Annual Meeting 2013

October 1st - 4th, St. Petersburg, Russia

"Komarov Botanical Institute Russian Academy of Sciences"

The 14th NECLIME Annual Meeting took place in St. Petersburg from the 1st to 4th of October and was kindly hosted by Svetlana Popova and Dmitry Gromyko, following directly after the "Eighth Palaeobotanical Readings Commemorating A. N. Kryshtofovich".
We greatly enjoyed two days of interesting presentations in the wonderful building of the Kamarov Botanical Institute of the RAS, included a guided tour through the greenhouses. A one day field trip was organized to the Karelian Isthmus (primary and secondary vegetation, cultural heritage).

The NECLIME meeting, perfectly organized by our hosts, was very successful, as we think, and brought together ca. 40
colleagues from 11 countries. 20 talks and 5 posters in total were presented.

The Conference will focus on "Paleoclimate and vegetation of Northern Eurasia"
Scientific topics of great interestes will be:
  •  Paleovegetation and paleoclimate evolution
    • of the high latitude
    • in Central Asia (key region Kasakhstan)
    • in Eastern Eurasia (key region Primorje and Northern China)
  • Quantifying Neogene climate evolution, including the Plio/Pleistocene transition

A report about the discussions can be found within the newsletter for the NECLIME community (November 2013)
The final program and abstract book is available for download.
Additional information about the meeting and the planned field trips in the 1st circular and 2nd circular.
